Artist Statement:

In 1980 I was introduced to Pysanky writing which is a batick process used to decorate eggs.  The unique art form originated in the Ukreaine over 2,000 years ago and is responsible for our tradition of decorating Easter eggs.  Once introduced, I acquired all the books and supplies necessary to teach myself how to do it and over 25 years later I'm still working at it.

There is something very satisfying about working on a canvas that comes entirely from nature and employing an art form so old and full of history and tradition.  Over the years I have experimented with my own techniques, colors and designs.  Today my work is a contemporary expression of a centuries old art form.
